How to Get the Diagnostic File?

Requirements:

  • Your MacBook/iMac should be in a locked state (password-protected).
  • A USB OTG or USB-C port is required.

To generate Diagnostic File, follow these steps:

  1. Access Recovery Mode:
    • For MacBook T2: Restart the device, and hold down CMD + R to boot into Recovery Mode.
    • For MacBook M1, M2, M3: Power down, hold the Power Button, and select Recovery Mode.
  2. Execute Key Combination:
    • Once the Mac is in Recovery Mode, hold all five keys: Control + Option + Command + Dot + Shift.
    • Wait for a few seconds until a red screen appears, indicating the process is active.
  3. Dump the Diagnostic File:
    • A Finder window will open automatically.
    • Insert a USB drive and save the Diagnostic File by selecting Save to USB.
  4. Unzip/Untar file:
    • Unzip/Untar the file and find the IODeviceTree.txt file located in the «ioreg» folder.
  5. Upload the File for Analysis:
    • Submit the «IODeviceTree.txt» file, and the system will check the results for you.
